Camden is ONE!!

Posted on February 16, 2010

What a load of cuteness. Seriously. I think I said something like “OMG that’s perfect. Wow. It doesn’t get any cuter than THAT…” about 20 times during the session. It has been so fun to see Cam grow up. He even lived with our crazy family (with his parents of course ) for a month this summer. We have some incriminating photos (that I will reserve for some significant milestones in life… like his rehearsal dinner slideshow for one) of him wearing princess paraphernalia in our house. :)

Enough talking…. you just have to see the pics!!! We love you guys, Grove family, and are really thankful for your friendship as fellow transplants in Phoenix!

Baby Maxwell and Family

Posted on January 28, 2010

And now they are four…. What a beautiful family! Remember THIS SHOOT?? Well, it was a pleasure to meet the newest member, little Max. And he turned out to be as stinking cute as his big brother and was so fun to “work with.”

Here are just a few faves from their session…

the Moroney’s || family and maternity photography in Phoenix

Posted on November 16, 2009

What an incredibly easy going, photogenic family! WOW! I had so much fun working with them yesterday morning  e a r l y. :) We met up at the Biltmore Fashion Square at the crack of dawn and totally beat the crowds. Nathan and Crystal were so easygoing and natural in front of the camera (as you can see). And little Nathan?? Wow…. talk about a natural. I could have photographed him all day long. And lucky for me, he never seemed to tire of my constant “peek-a-boo”  attempts to get him to look at me through the camera. My own daughters have completely tuned me out when it comes to that strategy .

We tried to hit up a variety of “looks” at the Biltmore, and it was totally a success. And Crystal totally made my day when she said YES! when I asked her if she would be up for lying down on the parking garage floor for a shot I have been wanting to do for a long time. :) Crystal, you are a rockstar! Thank you guys for being up for anything I suggested and for just being your natural selves in front of the camera… I just love these pictures of you guys - totally brings a smile to my face as I am processing them right now. Here are just a tiny handful of favories thus far:

this next shot is a great example of a perfect moment, but imperfect “photo”…. the image itself would technically be declared “out of focus” among other things… but to me it is one of my favorite images because it conveys so much more emotion and perfectly captures the MOMENT even more than an image clearer focus and exposure. this image, in my opinion, is a perfect example of when it is appropriate to break the photography “rules.”

the Allison family ~ smokin’ hot in phoenix

Posted on August 12, 2009

And I am not referring to the weather! What a fun family! When Chip and Kay said they wanted to shoot downtown in a more urban setting, I was so excited I could hardly contain myself. Hey, it takes a shoot like this to get me out of bed before 6am!!! We had to shoot early to beat the heat and the crowds (and apparently also the parking fees :).

And come on people, who can’t get enough of adorable little (just-turned-one) Finn’s KILLER eyes and even more killer expressions. He was working it… making mom and dad very proud. And then there was Kay and baby-boy-belly-bump…. wowza! I love Chip and Kay’s style, look and the way they were so comfortable in front of the camera (a photographer’s dream). I commented that they really had a great serious look…. to which they both started laughing hysterically. Love that!!

Guys, it was a blast working together this morning! Can’t wait to meet baby boy someday and work it some more! My camera seems to love you guys! :)

Owen is ONE!

Posted on April 22, 2009

What a cutie! I photographed Owen and his family when he was about 4 months old last year… and wow, he has really grown up these last several months. We had fun just chillin’ in his environment… outside in the yard, in his playroom, on mom and dad’s bed and so on. It is so fun for me to photograph little kiddos like this in THEIR most comfortable environment. I think it makes for the best, most realistic photographs. I appreciated Owen’s parents’ perspective - they really wanted to just capture Owen in his “one-ness.” They wanted to get shots of the things that they want to see and remember 10 and 20 years down the road…. the toys he likes, books he loves, the things he loves to do most (play on mom and dad’s bed, play in his crib etc). Instead of dressing him up and decking him out in unfamiliar clothes and props, they wanted REAL pictures of their son. I loved that and appreciated their forethought into the future! These “one-ness” moments will be gone in a flash. I hope these pictures bring them great joy and maybe even some happy tears in the years to come as they remember these days.

Hello Aubrey….

Posted on February 24, 2009

Seriously? I mean seriously? How is it possible for a less than 6 week old baby to look THIS jaw-dropping gorgeous. I can’t get enough of these pictures. I mean it. Aubrey was a complete joy to work with (as if she had a choice in the matter, though). I have seen in two successive newborn sessions that the sound of my camera shutter is extremely fascinating to these little ones. I was nearly propositioned by one set of parents to come and “shoot” again, say at around 3am?? :) Julie and Eric, you guys have a heart breaker on your hands… I wish you blessings and the best for the years to come with this little princess.

Meet Camden…

Posted on February 9, 2009

Matt and Christi are dear friends from church… You may remember Christi’s ridiculously hot preggo pics several weeks back (yup, she’s the one in the header on this blog). Well, their little bundle of joy has arrived and here he is! Also, I just had to include some details shots of his nursery… Christi really outdid herself here. Holy cow! As for Camden…. the kiddo has a thing for cameras. Whenever I would start shooting continuously, he would immediately stop crying and follow the sound of my camera clicking. It was so cute. I think Matt and Christi were seriously considering dropping some serious $$ and hiring me and my camera for night duty. :)

Maryn is ONE!!

Posted on January 15, 2009

Sweet little Miss Maryn is one year old now! I got to spend some time one morning with her family to celebrate. Phoenix’s new metro system, the Light Rail, recently opened so we thought it would be fun to go shoot on and off the trains.

The Stars and Stripes…

Posted on October 22, 2008

UPDATE: You can view Kathy and Mike’s slideshow HERE.

No, this is not a political post. The stars I am referring to are the following 4 people (and canine): Kathy, Mike, Owen and Noah. And the stripes are just, well, you will just have see for yourself. :) What a fun family and fun shoot this was! Noah, the dog, and Owen, the baby, competitively competed for “best of show” and I have to say they tied. :) What can I say? I am a sucker for both! I mean come on - look at them!!!!

A recent belly shoot is coming soon as well!

just so you can get even more of a feel of my style when it comes to kiddo and baby portraits (aka natural, free, fun, casual, fun, easy, fun :) … here are a few snapshots of my own lifetime portrait subjects. :)
Running around in the Texas morning sun and humidity (I couldn’t get enough of her curly hair…. here in Phoenix it is pretty straight):

And the youngest one… the ones of her in the white hat were taken outside… This is the same outfit I put my older daughter in when she was 5 months… if you want to see some comparison pictures, check out my personal blog HERE. (beware of lots and lots of the same pictures :)
